RED Tour: Orlando, FL

Sorry for not posting in a while, things have been busy but let’s get to it! I was at the RED show in Orlando and it was EPIC. Completely insane and I loved every second of it. I will be talking in detail about the show so, **SPOILER ALERT** if you don’t want to know-then check out some other stories and enjoy the blog.

Alright, let’s begin at the beginning. Ed Sheeran was great. Moving on.

She opened with State of Grace, one of my favorite songs from RED. She started out behind a curtain, which fell, and she made her way down the staircase and out onto the catwalk. After the song, she threw her hat out into the audience. I loved the white lace top, black short shorts, sparkly tights, and bedazzled red shoes. The red shoes in the show were just freaking awesome.

Holy Ground was next on the list and it was so cute to watch her dance to it. I loved how it went to black-lights and she was banging on the drums.

After explaining why the album was named RED, Taylor sang the title song itself which was great. The dancers used huge red flags and just looked beautiful as they moved around the stage.

A quick costume change followed and then in a surprise twist Taylor sand You Belong With Me, but it had a vintage spin on it. I have never been so in love with that song then I was that night. I watched Taylor dance in her short, sparkly, red dress and long red gloves on a bridge (much like the one from Better Than Revenge during the Speak Now tour) along with her similarly dressed dancers. Then Miss Swift disappeared and a video appeared on the screen.

This video was pure genius. It was in black and white and introduced The Lucky One. Taylor was in it talking about how difficult it is while she was getting ready and how hard it is in the spotlight. At the end of the video, she put on red lipstick (the only color in the video) and the song started. She appeared at the top of the stage in a gorgeous vintage looking red dress that had a deep plunge and a long tail. She was greeted by vintage style paparazzi as the show went on she moved around the stage, sitting down on a sateen and being pushed around before coming on the catwalk with her paparazzi. I love this song so much and seeing it come to life like that was just unreal.

Another quick costume change, mainly pulling off the flowing skirt and replacing it with a short, sparkly, silver skirt and she sat down on a wooden chest and strummed her banjo- a fun fact is that chest is actually from her house. Taylor talked to the audience about how when she was little, she thought that when she got older everyone would be nice. She went on to talk about how wrong she was and how she wondered why people have to be so…you guessed it…mean! Mean isn’t as cute as it was the first time around, but it’s still a great song and a great performance.

Taylor got up from the chest as the song ended and talked to the audience about how a lot of people say she only writes songs about breakups and how that isn’t true, because sometimes they stay. This leads into Stay Stay Stay which was turned into a mash up with Ho Hey by The Lumineers. She and bassist Amos Heller stole the show as she sang “with him” (much like she did for The Story Of Us with guitarist Grant Mickelson for the Speak Now tour). They walked together up the staircase and sang as it began to rise, creating a platform that was practically in midair. They were so cute singing this mash up together and I LOVED Taylor singing Ho Hey.

One of my favorite songs followed yet another costume change which was a complete change. Taylor got on coral colored skinny jeans, a black and white striped shirt, a blue letterman jacket with a sparkly red “R” on the front of it, and shiny navy oxfords. As she changed a video played which had pictures and sound clips of Taylor beginning at age 1. When it came to a certain age which I think we can all guess, she burst onto the stage and started singing 22. This was a great performance. I loved every second of it! The whole stage was alive with dancing and running around. At one point in the song, Taylor and her dancers did a little dance at the edge of the catwalk and two of the dancers jumped down into the audience. Taylor fell backwards on them and sat on their shoulders as they carried her through the audience. She gave high fives as she was carried to the B stage where she finishes the song.

As she sits down on a red stool on the B stage, she talks with the fans about their signs and how she wants to join them in the back. She then tells the audience that during this spot in the show, she always leaves it open to perform a song that has been requested via Twitter or the fans. For the Orlando show, a girl in a meet and greet requested You’re Not Sorry, so she performed that. (Apparently she has done Should’ve Said No, Fearless, and Safe and Sound-I am so jealous!).

After that, she welcomed Ed to join her on the B stage and I bet you can guess what happened next! They sang their duet Everything Has Changed, as the stage went up and revolved. Hearing their voices together live is even better than hearing them on the album. They really do sound amazing together and they look so cute up there.

Ed left after this song and if you watch the main stage, then you will see a Parisian theme. This leads into Begin Again. This is such a touching song and I really enjoyed hearing it live.

A large round lift lowers to the B Stage and Taylor steps in it as Sparks Fly begins. I absolutely love this song and was so excited that she carried it over to this tour. Taylor was lifted into the air on the opposite side of the arena and the lift moved up and down as it carried her to the main stage. The bottom of the lift is covered in lights and she does get very close to audience members-but not close enough to touch. The lift carries her to the main stage where she steps out and finishes the song.

Taylor disappears again as chandeliers are lowered and candelabra’s are placed on the stage. She emerged again at the top of the stage in a white “wedding” dress as I Knew You Were Trouble begins. This song is ridiculously amazing live! The dancer’s costumes are just insanely amazing. She dances around the stage until they surround her and she emerges in a sexy black one-piece outfit with sheer cutouts, lace sleeves and gold baroque embroidery on the sides. Everything about this performance was intense and amazing!

She put on a black skirt and walked up the stairs to a red grand piano and started to play a tune as she spoke to the audience. She told everyone how when she goes to write a song, her goal is that when she is finished, the song will reflect what she was feeling about that situation and with one song, she had trouble doing it because all she could think about were the memories. She began singing All Too Well and it was clearly an emotional performance. When she reached the bridge of the song, a tear rolled down her cheek and she turned from the camera back to the piano as she sang.

Taylor disappeared again and dancers emerged on the stage with a large box that had a wind up key. They were dressed very circus/ballerina like and they looked amazing as they danced around the stage as Taylor popped out of the box in a long flowing white dress as she begins singing Love Story. This song will never get old and I don’t think Taylor will ever get tired of performing it.

She disappeared yet again and this time emerged in a black top with a white tulle tutu like skirt. She began singing Treacherous and it was adorable. While she sang the song, a lift emerged similar to the one from Stay Stay Stay/Ho Hey and Taylor walked out onto it as if it were a balance beam. It was very sweet.

Of course she disappeared for one final time as the dancers took the stage in new costumes. These were very circus like, including walkers on stilts and adjoined women, and it was so cool to watch. Taylor emerged in a ring leader’s outfit-top hat and all. The jacket was insanely amazing! It was red of course and completely blinged out. She walked around the stage singing We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together which was completely amazing! The in stage lift rose again as Taylor stood at the end of it as if she were standing on a balcony, confetti falling as she sang. She made her way back up the stage where everyone took their bows. Taylor walked up the stairs and to the top of the stage where she was lowered backstage.

Overall the show was amazingly epic and I truly enjoyed every second of her AMAZING performance. Tickets are expensive and can be hard to get, but they are incredibly worth it. Oh and I saw Momma Swift running around and she is so funny! She was singing along to Love Story as she walked by. How cute!
