CMA Awards 2013

The CMA Awards were a great night all around. Taylor walked away with 4 awards total; 1 of those awards being the most prestigious award the Country Music Association has to offer – The Pinnacle Award. We will talk more about that later.

Lets start with her look of the night.

  • Her dress. Her dress was so beautiful. I loved that she wore red, and all of the detail on it made me think of Christmas (which is her favorite holiday).
  • Her hair. Her hair reminded me of her hairstyle at the Oscars. That look is fantastic on her, although I do miss the fairy tale princess up dos.
  • Her makeup. Flawless.

Now let’s discuss the highs and lows of the night:

  • Taylor’s Awkward Award Show Dancing. It was as awkward as ever! I love watching her dance, it makes me dance along at home.
  • Brad & Carrie. They were epic all night long. From fake feuds, ObamaCare, and remixing “Blurred Lines,” and saying Luke Bryan twerks they didn’t miss a beat
  • Brad saying this to Taylor, ““Taylor, you’ve grown up right before our very eyes,” Brad said. “And I want to thank you from a grateful industry, for never once humping a teddy bear or gyrating with Beetle Juice. I really appreciate it. I know that’s not easy.”
  • Taylor’s face when Brad thanked her
  • Taylors face when Florida Georgia Line thanked her in their acceptance speech
  • Carrie Underwood’s performance and clothes
  • Brad’s “beetle juice” outfit
  • Luke Bryan & Florida Georgia Line’s performance
  • Taylor's special performance of "Red" with her special guests
  • The single greatest highlight of the night however was Taylor accepting the Pinnacle Award. The video they put together for her was out of the water incredible, and her face showed it. The looks on her family’s face as she accepted this award was enough to make anyone cry. Not to mention the proud looks on Rascal Flatt’s, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, George Strait, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill’s faces. Everyone was so proud of her. Even on the video: Ethel Kennedy, Keith Urban, Vince Gill, Mick Jagger, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Justin Timberlake, and Ellen Degeneres all looked incredibly proud of our girl. She really has accomplished something incredible. Only 1 other person has EVER won this award and she is the 1st woman and the youngest recipient. I love how in her acceptance speech, she turned it on the people standing on stage with her. Everyone up there was someone she had opened for, and she thanked each of them and shared something that each person/group taught her about performing. We owe them an awful lot. She is living proof of what can happen when we admit we don’t know everything about something and when we study those who are great at what they do. Now she is up in the “legend” status of country music. I also love that she thanked us. I mean she always thanks us, but this time it was different. She knew we did this for her simply by buying a cd or going to a concert. She knows that she wouldn’t be where she is without us, and we know that we wouldn’t be where we are without her. That is a powerful relationship.

Now for the lows:

  • The “fued” between Darius Rucker and Julianne Hough who had just been in the news for her infamous blackface incident. That was a poor choice indeed.
  • Kacey Musgraves looked pissed when Miranda Lambert won female vocalist. Way to be a sore loser. I liked her until that. Taylor, Carrie, and Miranda always support each other no matter who wins and if Kacey wants to be one of the legendary women of country music then she needs to drop the attitude and learn to play nice and genuinely support her fellow artists

Overall, this was a great award show.

Taylor won: Event of the Year for “Highway Don’t Care”, Video of the Year for “Highway Don’t Care,” International Artist Achievement Award, and The Pinnacle Award.

The Quote of the Month for November is a line from "Story of Us." "The battle's in your hands now, but I would lay my armor down if you said you'd rather love than fight."

I think everyone has been in a relationship where it seemed like only one person was truly invested. The other person was always upset about something or looking for a fight. This line is where she lays it all out there and tells this person (JM) that its on him and if he wants to fix it to let her know. Obviously we know this person didn't, but the right one will.

We love you guys, have a great month!
