VMAs 2013

Last night was the VMAs and boy was it eventful and slightly disappointing. Tay didn’t win Video of the Year but she did win Best Female Video. She wanted a moonman and we got her one, so pat yourselves on the back swifties.

Let’s start with the first shot of Taylor all night. She was being interviewed on the red carpet and I think every swiftie had a complete freak out when they saw her hair. THE CURLS WERE BACK! She looked insanely stunning. Words cannot describe how flawless she looked last night. She truly was a 60s queen.

The show started with Lady Gaga doing a very creepy and odd performance and then 1D presented Best Pop Video. The world has thrown Taylor under the bus for supposedly saying “Shut the f up” to Selena (of course about Harry Styles being on stage), HOWEVER if anyone were to actually watch the raw footage and not a GIF of her lips moving it is clear she is talking about her arm (which she then moves because it was on Selena). If I am wrong and she wasn’t talking about her arm and she did in fact curse, who the hell cares. She is 23 years old people; I think she is old enough to say curse words. BUT once again I think it is highly unlikely because she has spent like 7 years trying to build and protect her good image.

She and Selena also danced to Miley Cyrus’ hot mess of a performance where she was pretty much impregnated by Robin Thicke on stage for all of America to see. All I could think during her performance is “what would MaMaw say?” I used to be a Smiler, but I just can’t justify her behavior anymore. Selena was a Disney star to and she has grown up but she did it in a classy way. No one thinks of her as Alex Russo because she doesn’t run around acting crazy and kind of slutty.

When 1D won for Song of the Summer, I personally found it very amusing that they were booed. Take that Directioners. HOWEVER did Taylor boo? Did Taylor roll her eyes and look away from the stage? Did Taylor storm the stage and say they didn’t deserve it? No. She applauded them and listened to their speech. When they were booed, she looked outraged. That’s right. Outraged. Don’t believe me? Look for yourself.

When Taylor won Best Female Video, Harry clapped for her (I think that was very gentlemanly)but Louis didn’t. To that I say, “Louis she didn’t date you-she dated Harry. If he can be a gentleman, maybe you should grow up and be one too.” I loved Taylor’s acceptance speech. She is always so generous with thanking her fans and we appreciate it. I mean I know a lot of people who spent A LOT of time voting for her. I also think its sweet she mentioned the video’s director and her costar Reeve whom she brought as her date (that was sweet too). Then Taylor got all sassy on us and thanked the person who inspired IKYWT for her new award. You go girl! (And for the record Taylor and Harry were together before she and Conor were together and with her comment at the BRIT awards it could suggest that Harry was the inspiration, HOWEVER John Mayer is an ass and that is inspiration enough for IKYWT).

13 Fun Facts - August

Happy Swift Day!!! Who’s ready for this month’s 13 Fun Facts?! Here we go….*drum roll*

1) Taylor has a picture from the “Thug Story” video in her kitchen

2) The song “Mean” is speculated to be about music critic Bob Lefsetz who said, “…now everybody knows that Taylor Swift can’t sing.”

3) Taylor was supposedly offered a contract with Disney sometime between 2002 and 2004

4) When she was just starting out, she used to beg radio DJs to play her music and she would even bake them cookies

5) The music video for “Tim McGraw” was shot at Johnny Cash’s cabin, so they named the boy in the video Johnny

6) Hockey is one of Taylor’s favorite sports and she was even a spokesperson for the Nashville Predators at one point

7) Taylor went with Dianna Agron to see The Hunger Games at an LA movie theater

8) Her Twitter name has 13 characters (@taylorswift13)

9) Taylor has written over 250 songs

10) Her favorite movie is “Love Actually” but she says, “It’s so sad, I can only watch it once a year.”

11) She started the Speak Now World Tour in Singapore because her maternal grandmother is from that country

12) Taylor wrote “Ours” just before turning 20

13) Her measurements are 32-23-35

The quote of the month is: “I've wanted one thing for me whole life and I'm not going to be that girl who wants one thing her whole life then gets it and complains.”

That is something that I truly love and admire about Taylor. All of the other celebrities complain about the paparazzi following them and all of the media attention they get, but Taylor just takes it. She waves to the paparazzi and smiles at them or she’ll just look down and try not to give her emotions away. She knows that they come with her job and because she is living her dream, and she realizes that she is fortunate enough to do so, she accepts them. I think a lot of other celebrities, young and old, could learn a lesson from Miss Swift about that.

Favorite Songs from RED

So, Christina and I have been talking a lot about our favorite songs from the RED album and why we love them so much. We thought we would share them with you guys and we’d love to hear your thoughts and your favorite songs.

My top 3 (in no particular order) are:

  • State of Grace
  • The Lucky One
  • 22

And here are my reasons why:

State of Grace- This song is unlike any song I have ever heard before. The music is killer but the lyrics really get to me. “Love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right. These are the hands of fate, you’re my Achilles heel. This is the golden age of something good and right and real.” I can’t even explain how much I relate to those words and how well I understand them. They resonate with me and I am sure with anyone else who has been in love.

The Lucky One- Once again, this song is so unique. I love it so much. The music is of course spectacular and really gives it a retro vibe. I just love the story that goes along with it and how she is pointing out the not so glamorous side of fame. “…and the young things line up to take your place. Another name goes up in lights, you wonder if you’ll make it out alive…but can you tell me now you’re the lucky one? …they still tell the legend of how you disappeared, how you took the money and your dignity and got the hell out.”

22- From the second I heard the first line, “It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters and make fun of our exes,” I fell in love with this song. My friends and I love singing along and dancing to the song and it really is like an anthem for having fun with your friends. She captures the age of 22 perfectly with, “We’re happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time. It’s miserable and magical…” I also love the fact that she pokes fun at herself in it, “this place is too crowded, too many cool kids *in the background: who’s Taylor Swift anyway? Ew.*” I laughed so hard when I heard that. This song is perfect and I was so happy when she released it as a single and made a music video for it.

Here are my (Christina)’s top 3:

  • Everything Has Changed
  • All Too Well
  • I Knew You Were Trouble

And here are my reasons why:

Everything Has Changed- I was very happy to hear that Taylor and Ed would be doing a song together and as soon as I heard it I knew it was perfect. She has many lyrics in all of her songs that captivate you, but in this song there are many lyrics that I hold on to for example, "I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now." Sometimes I feel like these lyrics just hold me together, also, "everything has changed". The music video for this song is honestly amazing, it brought me to tears every time I watched it. I really love how the little girls is exactly like Taylor, she is so proper. One of the things in this video that makes me so happy is seeing them doing different things, when everyone else is doing something in a group they are off doing their own thing. I love how it makes you feel like a kid again and you feel like everything is all going to happen again.

All Too Well- When this song first came out on the RED album I automatically fell in love with it. I remember being at Taylor's concert for two night and hearing her sing this song. I was crying as I listened to her singing it, while she was crying as well. There are strong lyrics in this song for example, "Cause there we are again in the middle of the night. We dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light. Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all too well" These lyrics really speak out to me in ways I am unable to describe. I felt her pain as she sang them on stage with her piano and I always listen to this song on replay now even though it makes me cry I feel closer to Taylor.
(I, Courtney, completely agree with Christina and I am glad she chose this song, otherwise my top 3 would've become a top 5)

I Knew You Were Trouble- I am honestly and completely in love with this song. I love how the versus work up to the chorus, "Cause I knew you were trouble when you walked in so shame on me now." As soon as I hear the beginning of the chorus I always get ready and excited. I really feel like laying on the cold hard ground. This song is the type of song you can dance to and have fun with. I love the music video that goes with this song!
(Courtney again, and like I said before, I am glad Christina chose this song or I would have had a very hard time picking my top 3)

13 Fun Facts- July

alltswift_begoodtopeople

Happy belated Swift Day to everyone! Sorry we are posting these fun facts so late in the month, but I was a little busy getting married this past Swift Day. Here are the 13 Fun Facts for the month of July:

1) In a 2007 interview Taylor said, “In 5 years from now I’ll be 22 and hopefully going on my first headlining tour.”

2) Taylor’s favorite thing about the Fearless tour was the rain because “people weren’t expecting it”

3) She loves lavender lemonade

4) The teddy bear Taylor had in Valentine’s Day was in the T-Party room during the Speak Now tour

5) When she goes to Starbucks, sometimes she pays for the person behind her

6) Lady Gaga said she loves “You Belong With Me” because it has a “whimsical” feel to it

7) The longest note Taylor has ever held was for 15 seconds at the 2010 ACMs when she performed “Change”

8) Taylor said she wrote “Holy Ground” about her first love at 18

9) Her cell phone carrier is Verizon

10) RCA told Taylor that “Teardrops on my Guitar” was too “childish” and would “never chart”

11) Taylor cried when Austin left for college

12) Taylor says she’s dated some people that, for some reason, she just wasn't able to write songs about

13) A lot of the pieces of jewelry Taylor wears are gifts from fans

"No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind." -Taylor Swift

Taylor is right (but what else is new). No matter what happens in your life, be good to the people around you-even when they aren't so good to you. When people look back and think about you, they'll think of how good, kind, and sweet you were, even when they didn't deserve it.And who knows, maybe that will inspire them to start being a little more kind to others. In my opinion, that is the best kind of legacy to leave behind.

RED Tour: Toronto

On June 14th 2013 my mom, my friend and I went down to Toronto so about 15 minutes from where I live, and we checked into a hotel. This was the beginning to a journey that was going to be enchanting. My friend Sofie and I were dressed in our Morph Suits, wrapped in Christmas lights and had signs that were wrapped with lights also. When we got to Toronto we ate quickly and then we went to Rogers Centre. Our section was up in the 500’s because my mom got our tickets for the first night off my cousin but it didn’t matter, we were going to make the best of it anyway. While we were sitting there we held up our signs and turned on all our lights. During one of the opening acts a man started walking toward us I remember freezing up because I thought he was going to tell us to put our signs down. He crouched down beside me and said “Don’t get too excited but grab all of your belongings and meet me outside the doors” I actually started bawling my eyes out and my friend and I grabbed our stuff and ran out the doors where the man was standing in his hands he had two tickets “We are going to be moving you to the floor” was all the he said before I hugged him with tears down my face. When we got to the floor we were in row 22. As we sat down I met a fellow Swiftie and we were talking before the show started. After Ed came on I went to walk around to see if I could find Taylor’s mom. When I turned my head I saw her running towards me and she gave me such a big hug and told me she loved me. I was in tears again and then a crowd of people came and I got pushed out. Right before Taylor came on I looked behind me to see that Andrea Swift was sitting RIGHT BEHIND US! I took many pictures with her, and I also got to talk to her. We talked with each other for about 6 minutes and then she left but right when she came back she gave me another hug and my friend and told me she loved me and she loved our costumes. While Taylor was making her way down the aisle my friend pushed me and basically threw me and I ended up touching Taylor Swift’s leg. I once again, was bawling. I was actually in awe. I was bawling my eyes out and I couldn’t control it. We danced the whole night away and before we knew it, the concert was over. But it wasn’t really over.

The next night!

June 15th 2013

My best friend and I were so sore from the night before we had bruises all over our body like crazy. We got up around 8:30 AM because my mother thought It would be funny to do so. It wasn’t funny. AT ALL!. So Sofie and I got on our costumes again and changed all the batteries in them. We started walking across the street from the hotel to Rogers Centre. We sat there outside ALL DAY It was really hot out too!. While we sat out there I got to Skype with my best friend Courtney it was really fun!!. When the doors opened we booked it inside. We took our seats section 116 row 4 seats 1 and 2. We were right against the floor this time. I couldn’t stop crying I couldn’t hold myself together. During one of the opening acts some man came around and told us that we need to go to the B Stage around a certain time.

My friend and I got all ready to go. When the time came we ran as fast as we could and all that running paid off because we got right at the front of the stage. I have it all filmed, Sofie was actually the one doing the filming for me. Ed came right up to us and smiled and made eye contact with Sofie. During one of her songs I yelled “I love you Taylor!” and she smiled right at me! I was so just mind blown at what I experienced while I was there and It got even better when Taylor started “Highway Don’t Care” After she left from the B Stage, we were basically allowed on the floor for the rest of the night! So Sofie and I ran and squeezed through people and we were a couple rows away from the main stage!. Also her mom walked by Sofie and I and said she remembered us from the night before and that she still loves us!

I cant even begin to explain how much those nights meant to me. I have to thank my Mom for everything she has done for this concert to happen. Also my friend Sofie. She is a Green Day fan which means she loves punk and stuff, but she also likes Taylor Swift ever since we met because I’m obsessed. The point is that she chose to spend those two nights with me and my weirdness, deal with all my tears and emotions that night and do all that she could to get me into Club Red. Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but I am so glad I got to meet Andrea, and be able to touch Taylor’s leg and also be able to meet amazing Swifties!.

RED Tour Movie Posters

I love the idea of making songs from her show into movie posters because her show is literally a show. It's not just a concert where she sings and some stuff plays on a screen in the background. Oh no. A Taylor concert is full of lights, dancers, costumes, and interactions. Her "show" is more of a performance and takes a "concert" to a whole new level. Every sense you have is being appealed to in some way during one of her shows-even the sense of touch which is very very VERY rare for someone of her star status.

So here are a few of the posters (from the 1st batch...I may be redoing them) and the rest can be found on our Tumblr.

Taylor Swift Keds Review

As I am sure you all know, Taylor collaborated with Keds to create her own line of shoes for them. Judging by the fact that almost all styles are out of stock on Keds’ website, I’d say they are really popular. I’ve never worn Keds so I wasn’t sure if I should get a pair or not, but being a die-hard Swiftie (and the fact that they are SUPER cute) I decided to take the plunge and get a pair.

I went with the “Taylor Swift’s Champion Guitar” pair. It was between this pair and 2 others (Taylor Swift’s Champion Shades and Taylor Swift’s Champion Rose Stripe in navy/mustard). They are exclusively sold at Journey’s so I went there to try them on (versus ordering a pair blindly off the internet without knowing if they’ll fit or not).

Taylor Swift's Champion Shades
Taylor Swift's Champion Rose Stripe

The shoes fit fairly true to size, mine are a little bit too wide but you can’t tell by looking at them (I can only tell because I’m OCD). They are really comfortable which makes me happy, and they are so cute. I love the guitars on them, but from a distance they just look like a really cool pattern (which is another thing I like about the Champion Shades pair). Plus as an added little T Swift surprise, they come with a little charm on them. Mine came with a heart that has a “13” on it, but there are other ones like a guitar pick. BEWARE: if you get your shoes from Nordstrom they won’t have the charm on them. Just as a few designs are exclusive to Journey’s, some are exclusive to Nordstrom (like the Champion Shades pair).

Overall, I love these shoes and I am excited to get another pair! I recommend them to any Swiftie, or anyone who likes shoes. ;)
